What Are RVers Expecting When They Buy Health Insurance?

Why do people buy insurance? Why not just put all that money spent on premiums into a savings account or emergency fund? We insure our health because we don’t know what the future holds. We don’t buy health insurance or Medicare Supplements hoping to use them. The idea is to transfer risk from you to an insurance company as affordably as possible. Purchasing health insurance and paying those premiums is less of a risk than saving your money and hoping you have enough if something bad happens.

Health Insurance is Not a Discretionary Expense

Those who live full-time in an RV, or travel frequently, have unique needs in today’s health insurance market. You’ve no doubt seen the numbers at the fuel pump moving faster and climbing higher each time you fill your vehicle. This has happened before, and it always causes RVers to think harder about the frequency of their travel and how it fits into their RVing schedule. Still, to those of us who RV full-time, fuel is not a discretionary expense. Neither is insuring our health. So how do we balance our budget and still afford health insurance?

ACA Plans by Themselves are a Risk

Traveling with an Affordable Care Act (ACA) health plan alone is a risk within itself. This is because HMOs do not travel well. Since 2014 it has become increasingly more stressful for RVers to feel confident that their health plan is going to work for them if they become ill while they are away from their domicile area.

Health Insurance Pros Serving the RVer

At RVer Insurance Exchange we keep our fingers on the pulse of the health insurance industry. We partner with people in the insurance industry who can creatively meet the needs of RVers, and provide plans that meet the requirements of existing laws. We never provide products that are NOT health insurance. If you have a plan or a supplemental product that is not filed with your state’s Department of Insurance and a claim is denied, you have zero recourse and may have to make some tough decisions you never saw coming.

Our agents have 26 years of insurance experience, 13 of them dedicated to serving the RV community. We are RVers, helping RVers. Learn the questions you should be asking yourself and gain knowledge by speaking with a health insurance agent who understands your lifestyle. The beauty of connecting with us and becoming educated about what works for RVers is that it costs you zero dollars, and only a few moments of your time to potentially save you thousands of dollars.
