What is a riddle? Webster defines a riddle as; “a mystifying, misleading, or puzzling question posed as a problem to be solved or guessed“. Enclopedia.com calls it; “a question or statement intentionally phrased so as to require ingenuity in ascertaining its answer or meaning, typically presented as a game”. Most RVers are “game for anything” and they love playing games for entertainment. With that in mind, here is a healthcare riddle for you:

Where is the one place you go that you have to wait to get in, you don’t know what they are going to do to you, you are carrying a card guaranteeing payment when you get there, and yet when you leave you have no idea how much you will end up owing? The answer is; a doctor’s office.
How does that happen to us? How can our healthcare be such a puzzle, and oftentimes misleading? When we shopped for our RV’s we knew what type it was going to be, and what the length of it would be. We also knew how much we were going to spend…exactly. We may have spent months or years figuring all of that out. We had complete control of the process. When it comes to buying big ticket items, we might visit four or five big box stores and research online before we take the item home that we have been searching for…knowing exactly what we paid.
With the health plans in today’s market we are parked in a “network” we can’t get out of. We can’t negotiate the price of any services we receive. We often have no idea what the final cost will be, and to top that off, we are paying a steep premium for it!

Open Enrollment 2022
Don’t forget about Open Enrollment for 2022. Under Age 65 Health Insurance Open Enrollment 2022 for The Affordable Care Act begins Monday November 1, 2021 for new enrollments and plan changes for 2022, for those currently insured through the marketplace. This year, there is a 30 day extension to this enrollment period, meaning you will be able to make changes to current coverage or newly enroll until January 15, 2022!
